My "special" morning
Ok, so I work from home, as you all know, I think. Well, this morning I struggled getting out of bed, it was a late night! I finally dragged my butt outts bed about 10 minutes AFTER I was supposed to start work. I get to work (well, like 2 wheels away from my bed) and there is no internet. So, I thought, I'm gonna be smart and figure this out on my own before I call tech support and look like a total dork. First, I try rebooting my router. Ok, now my laptop says the internet is connected, but I cannot pull up any websites or work stuff. Next, I try repairing the connection to the internet on my laptop. Same thing. My phone isn't working either, so I try rebooting my phone, still nothing. Once again, reboot the router, still the same. I finally give up and decide to call my ISP (Internet Service Provider for those of you like me who had no idea what that was). When I looked for their number in my phone, I noticed it didn't transfer when I changed phones...oops! I looked all over my desk to see if it was written anywhere...nope. AHHHHHH, now what? Then I had a clever idea, I should call WGU's tech support, just to make sure it is a problem with my ISP and get the number from them. When I call I hit a wrong number and end up talking to financial aid. I finally get hold of our tech support, and get the one grumpy person who always makes me feel like a complete incompetent idiot! At least he did give me the number to call my ISP. So, I call them, hit a wrong button and end up talking to the sales staff for businesses. I just hung up and called back. This time I did it right and got the correct tech support! YAY!!!! Can I just say I am very glad this guy was nice. I tell him what I've done, and he tries doing a few things on his end. After about 10 minutes of playing with different wires he asks "Is your internet wire plugged into your router" hahahahaha....I burst out laughing. The main internet wire (it's a flat wire that comes from a little black box) that's supposed to plug into the router (in the connection that says internet) to connect my router to my ISP was unplugged. That's all it was. I plugged it in and whalah! My internet and phone suddenly started working. It's amazing how when you have everything plugged in how well everything works. So, trying to look smart and look like I knew what I was doing ended up not working quite as well as I hoped ;) lol. But at least I gave the guy at Digis Tech Support a good laugh to start his morning off with, so it made it all worth it :)
