I am not a Doctor...

My least favorite part of going to the Doctor is the fact that they ALWAYS use that dang medical terminology stuff. Are they trying to make everyone feel inferior to them? Or do they REALLY think everyone actually knows exatly what they are saying? And when you go to specialists it is even worse. If you actually understood all that stuff, would you actually be there? I mean, honestly.

So, yesterday I went to get another good ol' MRI scan (pretty regular thing for me these days, so nothing major). I go in and the radiologist person (whatever the person is called that puts you on the table thing and tells you how long each picture is going to be) tells me "Ok, so we're gonna do ur C spine, then ur T spine, then we'll put you out for ur contrast. Then we'll put you back in and do the T spine, then the C spine"...WHAT? I had no clue what in the world she was talking about. I did remember someone at the Neurologists office saying something about my neck, so I assumed she was talking about something there. But is the neck divided into 2 parts? Or were they looking at my back? I really don't know. All I know is whatever in the world it was it took an hour and a half for them to do it all, and I ended up with a 2 inch wide envelope of pics from it.

Fortunately, I have had enough MRI's to know what the contrast was. It's when they pull you out, stick you with a big ol' long needle and shoot some nasty liquid stuff in you that leaves a metallic taste in your mouth. Of course, they always miss the vein the first time, so there's that minute or more of them poking around hitting every nerve in the bendy part of my elbow trying to hit a vein. I know, I'm EXCELLENT with medical terminology ;). Like I said, I am NOT a doctor, nor do I ever plan on being one.

Now I just get to wait until I go back to the doc in a couple weeks for him to look at the 2 inches of films to see if he sees any lesions. For those who don't know what those are, it's ok, I didn't either the first 10 times I was told that word. Basically, it's "spots" on the pictures. They're like white spots in places they're not supposed to be. Not cancer or tumors or anything, just random spots caused by my MS. So nothing major. They just wanted to see if this latest episode put any spots on my neck (or I guess C spine and T spine). Maybe I should be a doctor. Then I could explain things in Laman's terms. Everyone would actually understand me ;) lol.

Oh, good news. So my right leg is quite a bit stronger. Left leg is kinda slackin a bit. But, as long as I lead with my right leg, I can walk a little faster. Like yesterday for my MRI I couldn't take the wheelchair into the place where the machine is because of the strong magnets, so I had to walk. So, I held onto the tiny lady (who weighed probably as much or less than me) and walked from the door to the machine. Ok, the distance is only like 5 feet probably, but it took me less than a minute to do so. YAY ME!!! :) And I start physical therapy tomorrow! So I will be back to normal in no time. :)
