The walk-in closet

I always wanted a huge walk-in closet, well, once I knew they existed, and what one was. They have lots of open space, and you can organize your clothes the way I like them organized (by color and type) so easily. So, when we were looking for a house, I wanted to make sure the Master Bedroom had a walk-in closet.

Ours does. It's not a HUGE one, but it's still nice. But I have noticed a small problem. When we moved in there was so much room left in the closet after the clothes were in, it looked bare. It made it look like I had no clothes, even though they COMPLETELY filled 2 closets in our previous house. So, I just gradually started adding more and more with clearance sales and hand-me-downs. And, of course, with more clothes came more hangers.

We now have SO MANY hangers it's insane! However, I have ran out of hangers again. So, instead of buying more hangers, I had the genious idea to go through my closet and get rid of the clothes that don't fit me anymore (since I have gained a bit of weight since we first got married over 6 years ago). I took about 10 minutes in our closet, and came out with 2 LARGE laundry bags, which equals 4 of the large black trash bags, FULL of clothes to take to my niece (they all fit her by the way, so now she has too large of a wardrobe for her closet). The sad part, you can barely tell I took anything out of there. I definitely have WAY too many clothes.

So, the problem with a walk-in closet~you feel like you need to fill it up, and then you end up with way too many clothes for your own good, thus leading to LOTS of laundry, and LOTS of hangers :) But, when you do decide to clean it out, you can have a lot of clothes for someone who needs them.

And the sad part of the story~at least half of the clothes were either brand new, or only worn once or twice. But at least my niece has a VERY nice wardrobe.
