Happy Birthday!

Last Thursday, June 25th, was my baby's (or big boy's) 5th birthday! He had a fun day, which continued into the weekend. The above picture was the way he looked when we walked into his room and told him happy birthday. We gave him his present from us (2 pairs of clothes and a pair of PJ's, yes we are lame parents). No pics, because I completely forgot to charge the camera battery, so it died before he opened it.

After breakfast he asked why it was his birthday. I told him it's because 5 years ago today, he was born. His response "I don't wanna be born! I want to be 5! I thought I was 5!"

We decided to be semi-cool parents, and took him to lunch anywhere of his choice. He chose IHOP...of course. He is ALWAYS begging to go to IHOP. As we were waiting for daddy in the car, he had fun pretending to shoot everyone with his water gun (which has no water in it). He is such a boy!
He got a card and $10 cash from my Grandma Steele, so we also took him shopping for the gift from her...his choice....
He LOVES Littls Eintein's! That was pretty much it for his actual birthday. I let him choose whatever he wanted for dinner. His choice...Ramen Noodles! YAY for me! And, he did not want to go to bed. He was afraid he wasn't going to be 5 anymore if he went to bed.

Then Saturday was when we had the family parties. In the morning we had my family at my house for a barbecue...Erek cooked the burgers and hot dogs...

Austin and Ashlyn just chilled in my boys Adirondack chairs (they loved it!)

The kids kept attacking Scooby (Our only decoration)

Everyone enjoyed our trampoline...

And the swing set...

After dinner it was present time, present time... (of course he was given an Ambulace, what more appropriate gift)

He got LOTS of gifts. I will post all the pics on Facebook when I have more time. And, since Saturday's are my "sick" days from the shot, I didn't really feel up to making a cake, so Erek was very sweet and went and bought this cake...

And of course, you can't forget the birthday spankings. And, instead of a pinch to grow an inch, he was given a LOT of pinches to grow LOTS of inches, since my 6'4" brother thinks Braedyn is a midget :)

In the afternoon, we had another party for him. This was a combined birthday party for Erek's family. Braedyn's bday was on the 25th, and Erek's niece's bday was on the 27th. so we just combined them, and had the family meet at a park up in Layton (since that's where the whole family lives, except us).
Erek's awesome sister made the cakes...YAY Tai! Didn't she do a great job!

As we were waiting for everyone to show up, the kids had fun playing on the playground and basketball...
Time to sing.....
Make a wish....
Present time....again....

Then more running around...
And, of course, we can't let the kids have ALL the fun. Erek's step-brother, Shawn, attempting to use this scooter thing (whatever it's called) While Erek's brother in-law observes
Shawn did eventually learn how to ride the thing, after having 3 children (maybe around age 10) show him how to use it...
All in all, it was a good birthday and a very busy fun weekend!

  1. Was it at Layton Park behind Layton High? That's where I went to school...and I'll be living in Layton again soon. So next time you come to Layton call and we can see each other again! :)
