Spring

It must be Spring time! I love Spring. It's finally warm enough to enjoy the outdoors, but not too hot to be miserable. It has got to be my favorite season (with my second favorite being fall). One sign that it's spring? Weddings! Which means bridal showers! I had my first bridal shower of the season today. Well, technically, I should have had my first bridal shower of the season a week or so ago, if I had been able to pry myself from my bed and bathroom long enough to actually make it to the car. However, thanks to those magical "Queasy Drops" I was able to make it to a bridal shower for the exact same bride. She is my husband's, cousin's, daughter. I know that sounds pretty distant, however, the cousin considers my hubby a son, which would make the daughter like my hubby's sister. So yes, they are close to us. And, the bride has also been good friends with my little sister since like 5th grade. So, this shower they invited my sister and mom, and I tagged along since I wasn't able to go to the first one.

The shower was pretty much a ward shower. Since she's not part of my ward, her family were the only people I knew at the shower. My mom, sister and I kept getting strange looks like, "who are u", and "What the heck are u doing here". I felt like they thought we were party crashers with the looks we were getting. At one point during the shower, I was talking to the mom about my hubby (she was mad that he hadn't told her my brother was in Afghanistan). So a lady at the shower finally said "So, are u guys related?" The mom said "yeah" I said "My husband is her...(I completely forgot exactly how they were related since she's like a second mom to him)" She finished my sentence and said "Her husband is my cousin". Then we said how my little sister was friends with the bride forever. Then we said "and she's the mom" pointing to my mom. The lady asked "so you guys went to West Jordan High?". We told her yes, and she asked our names, so, of course, we told her. She said "Tambi Moser? That sounds real familiar" and started naming off some people's names to see if I knew them. I had no clue who they were. So the bride's mom cut in and said "oh no, she's much older than them". Oh thank you for making me sound old ;) lol. I told her I graduated in 2001, and she finally realized the son of hers I knew, and how she knew me. Once finding out how "old" I was, another girl, whose my little sisters age, started asking if I knew people. I asked when they graduated, she said 2002. So, I said "Oh, so they would have graduated with Josh Reilley (he was Reilley in High School, I know it's Egbert now Amy, just so u know, I know ur last name :) ) and..." before I could name the other people I knew that graduated that year I was cut off, the entire room turned and looked at me and said "Josh Reilley? You know Josh Reilley?" Why yes people, I do, and apparently I'm in a room full of people who also know him. Come to find out, the shower was in the ward he lived in before he got married. Talk about a small world.

After that little ice breaker, people finally started talking to us, instead of the strange looks. Fortunately it wasn't one of those annoying "come play a bunch of stupid games" type of showers. It was come chat, eat, open presents. Those are the best bridal showers! Come and leave as you please.

Oh, and just so you know, we have come up with a generic name for our baby until we find out the gender. For those who knew me when I was pregnant with my first, his name was Jo. That name lasted till he was born, since we didn't find out the gender until he was born. So, we couldn't use Jo again. My family helped out, and we came up with the generic name of Charlie. Yes, that is a boys and a girls name. For anyone who doesn't believe me, ahve you seen the new Disney Channel show "Good Luck Charlie"? It's about a baby girl named Charlie. So there, generic, cuz Disney Channel says so :). My dad calls everyone in the world Charlie, so it just seemed to fit so well. So, there you have it, our little bump is now Charlie, until the gender is determined. At which point we will give the correct name (except if it's a boy, we have no idea what the name will be, so it may remain Charlie until he is born).

  1. LOL. Welcome to my life. "oooh, you're JOSH'S wife....." is one of those common phrases in my life. :)

    Love the name Charlie.
