My baby has got to be one of the toughest 2-year-olds out there!
For Easter weekend, we went to my Grandma's house out in Vernal. We haven't been there since my Grandpa passed away in September 2008, so we figured it was about time to get our butts out there for a visit. My boys loved it. They love hanging out with Grandma. Her house is just so much fun. Not that she has a million toys to play with. Actually, I don't really know why it's so much fun, it just is. Maybe just cuz it's Grandma's house. Plus, Braedyn loves playing card games, and Grandma will play them with him all day, and let him win (which he LOVES).
We went out there Friday, and just played some games before calling it a night. Not that we got much sleep that night. Erek, me, and the 2 boys all slept in the same room. There is justa full size bed in that room, so Braedyn had his sleeping bag on the floor, and Brock slept on a little bed-type mattress thingy that Grandma has. After about an hour, Braedyn came up in the bed with me, and Erek got down with Brock. Once Brock was asleep, Erek came in the bed with Braedyn and I. After a few hours, brock decided he wanted to join us. So, there were 4 people in a FULL size bed. Needless to say, I got NO sleep. The 3 boys did, I heard them all snoring away. I was squashed in the middle, with Braedyn on one side, Erek on the other, and Brock on my chest. I do not recommend this sleeping arrangement.
On Saturday, we got up early, and took the boys to the 2 Easter egg hunts out there. They got a bit of candy, and Vernal still does REAL eggs, so they got to take home some real (hard-boiled) eggs. They LOVED that. After chilling at Grandma's for a while for nap time, Brock decided he wanted to see what the Vernal hospital was like. He tripped somehow, and hit his head on the corner of a drawer in my Grandma's game room. He didn't cry at all. I didn't even know anything happened, until I hear my Grandma yelling from the game room "Umm...Tambi, you may wanna come see ur son. I walk in, and his face, and hands are COVERED in blood, as well as the top of his shirt. Since Erek knows I'm not a blood person, he ran in, picked Brock up, and ran back to the bathroom to wash him up. We couldn't get it to stop bleeding, so we placed him in his car seat, and went to the hospital (which is only like a block from my Grandma's house) with me holding a rag on the wound. When we got to the ER, they got us right back. The dr. tried to flush the wound, but it would not stop bleeding. They ended up putting 2 stitches in his head. They did not numb him for the stitches, and surprisingly he did not cry at all. After the stitches were in, Brock had to lay on the table for 10 minutes, while his daddy put pressure on the wound to drain the blood, and decrese swelling. During the whole ordeal, this is the ONLY time the kid cried, and it was only for a minute that he cried, then he just sat there again.
Just to give you an idea of how awesome the ER was...the accident happened sometime between 4:45-4:50pm, we got to the hospital at 4:55pm. They did the exam, cleansing, stitches, etc. and we were back to my Grandma's house before 5:30pm. YAY for the amazing people at the Vernal hospital! That was definitely the FASTEST ER visit I have EVER had!
Brock will be getting his stitches out tomorrow. His brother is opposed to it, saying it will hurt the kid. Brock couldn't care less, and still head bonks his brother, our metal door, rocks, etc. If he didn't have stitches right on his head, you would never even know anything happened to the kid. He is just way too tough!!!!
The rest of our weekend was pretty calm (except for trying to get Brock to not split his stitches open). We had an enjoyable Easter, our boys were completely spoiled. We travelled back home Sunday afternoon, and had Monday to rest before going back to work Tuesday.
we decided we definitely have to get back out to Grandma's soon. Only this time, without the hospital visit. :)
