The first 2 days

Braedyn has officially completed his first 2 days of First Grade. I always thought Kindergarten was a big thing, and it is, but I never realized that First Grade is just as big. It's the first time they go to school for a FULL school day (which I'm still trying to get used to). In fact, every day at noon I try to send Erek to go pick him up, and I have to be reminded he won't be out until 3:30, and Erek does not want to wait for over 3 hours. It's also the first time they get "real" homework. Such things as spelling tests to study for, math, writing, reading, etc. He had basic things last year, he was sent home a few books a week to read (which took him usually like 5 minutes max to read all the books sent home with him). They did have him do some counting and basic number recognition stuff. It was all VERY easy for him, so I had to get creative making it so he was actually learning things. I am excited he will actually be challenged (hopefully) this year, without me trying to get creative. Cuz as we all know, I am NOT the most creative person in the world. I'm not a teacher, I have no clue what I'm doing.

A few phrases I have heard during his first 2 days of First Grade:

--"I love First Grade! They get TWO recesses! It's amazing! I wanna stay in First Grade FOREVER!"

--"School lunch is SO much better than lunch at home. I want school lunch every day! I get chocolate milk there. I NEVER get chocolate milk at home! You always make me drink regular milk!" (He's pretty accurate there, sadly. We get chocolate milk only when I have a good coupon for it, or it's on sale for a REALLY good price)

--"When am I gonna get homework already! It's been two whole days. I need to learn something."

Those are all I can remember off the top of my head. But he absolutely loves school (for now). He loves that he gets to play with his friends, and his cousin during recess. He loves to learn. Although, I'm not really sure why he loves school so much. He absolutely hates writing and spelling. When spelling words he just writes the first and last letter and calls it good. He couldn't care less if it's correct. He can't stand real math. He's ok with counting, but doesn't give a hoot what 1+1 is. He does know the answer to that, but doesn't really care. He's ok with reading. He would rather have someone read to him (because it's faster, and he hates taking longer than necessary on anything). He pretty much just likes sports, computer games, and riding his bike. Even though he doesn't like any subjects in school, I'm glad he actually likes school. I'm sure it's just because he's a little social butterfly, and likes that he gets to be with a bunch of kids instead of home with mom and dad all day.
