I like new stuff

I love getting new stuff! I hate spending the money, but it is fun to get. For those who don't remember, a few months ago we had a family of 4 living in our basement. While they were here, we allowed them to use our basic appliances (washer, dryer, fridge, stove, etc) that they really couldn't get their own of.

Well, apparently they didn't realize you have to change the lint trap in the dryer. I personally thought everyone knew this. So, after they were here for like 2 weeks, they blew up our dryer. When I went down to put some clothes in the dryer, I went to empty the lint trap, like I do with every load I put in the dryer (pok, maybe I empty it a little too much, but that's better than not at all) and I could barely get the little sliding thing out. It was covered with like 2 or more inches thick of lint. When we approached them about it, they said we were overreacting, and you cannot break a dryer by not emptying the lint trap, and they refused to do anything about it (like pay $100 to help purchase a new one or something). So, we have had to be using a loaner dryer since then. Because 1) we didn't really have the money to replace it, and 2) I didn't want to get a new one just to have it get broken.

Since they left, and we have been saving almost $300 a month on utility bills, we were finally able to save up enough money to buy a new dryer. It was delivered today, and I am SO excited! I can finally dry my delicates, and colored clothes NOT on high heat, and not have to worry about them shrinking! YAY!!!

  1. Hooray for new appliances! We are getting new w/d today too - because ours died.

I'm an empty the lint trip EVERY load kind of person too. It's a good thing.

  2. It's funny how difficult life can be without a dryer. Hey, congratulations on the new baby in your belly! I'm sorry you have been so sick. I can't imagine going through a pregnancy with two boys. You're amazing!
