...Until I had a 6-year-old. Sometimes this kid makes me feel so DUMB! What was the point of that Bachelor degree again? I thought it was supposed to mean I was SMARTER than a 6-year-old, and could answer all his questions about everything he asks (which is a LOT these days). Apparently, I didn't learn much during my school days. Or, maybe I've just forgotten, which tends to happen a lot.
Every day Braedyn is asking me so MANY questions about everything in the world, and many of them, I really have no idea how to answer. Every song we listen to he asks what words mean. Every time some one says something, he has something to ask about it. And when we do his homework? Well, sometimes I feel like a total dummy. Here are some examples of a couple of our conversations recently (as in within the past 2 days, because we all know I can't remember further back than that):
Braedyn: "Mommy, what does blocked mean?"
Me: "Ummm...it means blocked...or, uh, block? or uh....like u block something?" me thinking of how the heck to explain that word, what is something he can relate to? oh, sports...soccer, he played soccer. "Ok, I got it, u know how in soccer when someone tried to make a goal and u stopped it from getting in the goal? Well, that's what block means"
While helping with homework:
Braedyn had some tangrams, and had to color different shapes within it, and then say how many of each shape there were in it. I was taking him through each individual shape shown on his list to ask him how many there were of each. I would name each shape as we got to them saying "How many triangles are there? How many squares?" then we got to these shapes that I really was not sure what they were called. I've seen them before, but I never could remember the names of them. I'm a basic shape kinda girl. So, I say "how many of these are there?"
Braedyn: "you mean the parallelograms?"
Me: "Yeah, of course, how many parallelograms? and how many of these ones?"
Braedyn: "the trapezoids?"
Me: "yeah, trapezoids, just making sure you know the names"
I think it's time for me to go back to school and figure this stuff out again...
