Weekend craziness

Have you ever had one of those weekends where you have so much happen, that you're actually kinda glad the weekend is over and you can get back to work so you can actually relax? It happens very rarely for me, but this past weekend was one of those weekends.

To start, on Friday we finally got our Christmas card from my brother in Afghanistan!!! YAY!!! That was the best part of our weekend! It's only about a month AFTER Christmas, but that's the way it goes with the overseas stuff.

Then, my wonderful hubby was supposed to have friday night off, since he had to be to work at 10am that day, and work 2 shifts on Wednesday. Did that happen? Of course not, we're Wunderly's. So, we just stayed at my parents, since he needed to be in Layton at 7am Saturday morning to help his dad move.

When we got home Saturday night, our house was freezing! Our furnace was on the fritz. It would not turn on. My hubby had to take the top off and blow in it to get it to work. And he had to do this EVERY time! This made for a couple of LONG, COLD nights...One nice thing about the heater being out, at least we had hot baths :)

On Sunday my mom got a call from Afghanistan. A suicide bomber had gone to my brothers camp and taken out a Marine and a Navy Corman (medic). The call was my brother letting my mom know he is okay, before she heard about it on the news (thank goodness!!!!) This incident did make it a little scarier over there though. He is one of the Religious people, so is not fighting, so we didn't really think much of it. However, the medics are supposed to be okay as well. As we learned quick, with a suicide bomber, they don't really care who you are, they're taking you out. We just keep praying my brother makes it home safe to his new wife (whom he has only actually been able to spend a total of about 1 month with since they were married last summer).

Also on Sunday, my hubby spoke to our neighbor who works with furnaces for a living about our furnace. He found out what the probelm likely is, and fixed our furnace on Monday. Unfortunately, a fixed furnace also means cold baths. But I'm thinking I would rather have a warm house and cold baths thatn a cold house and warm baths...

On Sunday, my baby was completely miserable. Come to find out, he has ANOTHER ear infection! So, we have him on ear drops.

And that was our crazy weekend! We are all better now, and back to the normal daily stuff

  1. craziness! Why are hot baths and the furnace related? I'm confused....

But YAY for someone knowing how to fix it. Go you. :) Here's to a much calmer, mellower week.

  2. That's an excellent question. I'm not sure how they are related, and I didn't really know they were, until this incident. For the past year or so, we have been taking cool-ish showers/baths and were told it's cuz our water heater is going out. So, we're saving up to buy a new water heater. However, when our furnace went down, we were able to actually take hot baths. Now that it's fixed, it's back to cool baths. Your guess is as good as mine on how they're related. Maybe when we get our new water heater, they won't be related :)
