School Days

My handsome (cuz he can't be cute, he's a 6 year old BOY) son was child of the week this week (or the spotlight child). It has been a week of totally remmbering Elementary. In fact, a few days ago, as we were putting together his little poster about him, I started missing Elementary. And then today, I am SO OVER the Elementary phase.

For the last day of his spotlight week, the parents were invited to come have school lunch with their child. Do you remember school lunch? Ugh! Lunch today was a turkey sanwich on a wheat bun, chocolate pudding (that I'm certain was sugar free), milk, and veggies. Sadly, the best part of the lunch was the sandwich (the only part my son didn't eat). The chocolate pudding tasted like something nasty, I don't really know what it tasted like, cuz I've never tasted anything like that before. And I chose to not be a bad example to a group of 1st graders by chugging my milk straight from the carton, so used the tiny straw they give them. Seriously, how do they drink through that thing? It takes like 5 minutes to drink the tiny carton.

I have decided I will stick with the "adult" world, and eat whatever I choose from the store for lunch. It's true nobody gets to see all my adorable little kid pics, or know about ALL of my favorite things even if they don't really care. But at least I get to choose pudding with sugar in it, drink milk from a real cup, and eat whatever sounds good to me. Oh the joys of adulthood :)
